Spring is a great time of year to freshen things up! If you have an awning, terrace, or window treatments, now is the time to dust off the cobwebs. Spring cleaning is a great way to keep your home looking its best while also taking care of some maintenance work that needs to be done. Here’s how:
Outside!
Clean the outside first, using warm water if you have any stubborn stains or dirt that won’t come off easily with soap and water alone (like bird droppings). A soft bristle brush can help scrub away tough grime as well! You should also use this opportunity to clean either side of your frames.
Clean the inside of your awning next. Use the same warm water to clean and remove fingerprints, smudges, and other marks from both sides of each pane
The most efficient way to clean your terrace is with a pressure washer with a soft-tip nozzle. If you don’t have a pressure washer, a brush, and water will do the same thing.
Move along to your windows afterward and start by cleaning the glass and sills outside.
Moving Indoors!
Clean the windows, frame, and sills inside first, then move on to your window treatments. We know cleaning window treatments can be time-consuming so we have some tips to help you speed through the process.
If dusting isn’t for you, you can place a brush attachment to the end of your vacuum and go over each side of your slats or veins/louvers.
If your window treatments have a stain, or there is an area that requires extra care, use a mild detergent in room-temperature water and a slightly damp clean cotton cloth directly on the stain. Be sure to rinse with clear water and dry immediately so the water does not absorb into the fabric.
Spot cleaning with a soft damp cloth and a light vacuum is best for fabric honeycomb/roman or pleated window treatments
